For new lawns, especially on larger areas and commercial spaces, hydroseeding is a very cost effective and fast way of growing lush green grass. It is a fair bit cheaper than sod and faster than dry grass seed. Grass will typically begin to appear in 5 to 7 days, depending on weather conditions.

Hydroseed is a slurry of grass seed and fine mulch. It is sprayed in an even layer over the soil and the mulch content helps maintain moisture levels to encourage seed germination. The mulch also helps to prevent erosion until the grass has been established. In the mix is also a little bit of green dye and some fertilizer.
